Letters to the Editor

Letter: What is wrong with this country?

We should be welcoming workers from south of our borders instead of making it more difficult for them to enter. It has continually been a challenge to find people willing to work in restaurants, hotels, construction, agriculture, health and child care industries — and the list goes on. We need to stop allowing self-promoting politicians and pundits to control this narrative by inciting xenophobia and prejudice.

The government needs to work on solutions to streamline immigration for foreign workers, not put up roadblocks and walls. For over 40 years, I worked with many immigrants and refugees and found them to be among the most reliable and the hardest working members of the team.

Immigrants have always made this country stronger. Last I heard, there is still a labor shortage in this state and throughout our country.
