Letter: Walk the talk

It is time to make the “right to birth” crowd prove they are “right to life” and hold them accountable to advocate for, and fund, health care for women with unwanted pregnancies from undistinguishable embryo to birth. This needs to include everything from prenatal care to housing if the pregnant woman is homeless, and even drug addiction counseling when necessary.

Then, when the child is born as a result of an unwanted pregnancy, they must be provided with health care, dental care, vison care, day care, and educational opportunities. From birth to at least age 18. You know, the stuff a “life” needs.

Additionally, the woman required to give birth — because let’s face it, men aren’t doing it — must be given a safety net so that they can raise those children without having to work three jobs and they need access to counseling and support — free of charge — if they are struggling with the challenges of raising a child, especially one they had not originally wanted to raise, but we are now allowing a vocal minority to require.

It is time to make the “right to birth” folks walk the talk. Are they “right to birth” or are they “right to life?” Because providing a child with a life is a lot more difficult than giving birth to them.
