Letter: Paying Uncle Sam

No one seems to mention that the average Alaskan pays between 20%-25% in federal income taxes. A $5,500 payment from the state will result in an extra $1,100-$1,375 in federal taxes per person or, if all 667,484 people pay, that it means the feds pick up between $734 million to $917 million additional dollars. Wouldn’t it be better to keep the money in the Permanent Fund paying for programs here?
