Letter: No trust

In a recent ADN article, municipal ombudsman Darrel Hess was quoted as saying that library employees who came to him with complaints regarding library deputy director Judy Eledge would not follow his advice to take their concerns to the city’s human resources (HR) department: “These employees were extremely adamant … they did not trust HR.”

Their belief that the city’s HR department would not be able to listen dispassionately and fairly to their complaints was confirmed when chief human resources officer Niki Tshibaka brazenly attended a recent library advisory board meeting wearing an “I’M WITH JUDY” T-shirt. Given that one of the major duties of an HR department is in fact to listen dispassionately and fairly to employee concerns, there is only one remaining question: Why does Mr. Tshibaka still have his job?
