Letter: Bears and the homeless

The loss of bears at the Centennial Campground/new homeless camp was absolutely predictable. What can you expect when people are trying to take care of basic human needs for long periods without electricity, running water or trash disposal?

It is patently clear that the decision to move the homeless en masse to this public campground was rash, lacking planning, and less consideration for the welfare of the people. In fact, it appears rather punitive — as if they deserved to live with bears rifling through their tents, little personal safety and no place to refrigerate or store food.

I look forward to the day I can vote for anyone other than Mayor Dave Bronson and see him lose his job. We need someone who can help solve problems, who is compassionate, and who, at the very least, doesn’t make things worse.
