Letters to the Editor

Letter: Enough is enough

I have spent the better part of the past two weeks discussing with my husband the current homeless situation in Anchorage, specifically the sad situation at Centennial Campground and how such a mess could have developed. Well, after reading last Tuesday’s edition of the ADN, I had the answer: Joe Gerace. Aren’t background checks and resume verification part of the administration’s hiring practices? Were these checks and verifications conducted but ignored?

There is no excuse the administration can hide behind for hiring this con man who appears to have spent the past 15 years fabricating his educational and work history. Shame on the Bronson administration for again dragging Anchorage and its residents into yet another totally avoidable fiasco which has left us with another mess to clean up.Anchorage residents should be outraged at the hiring of this man and the continued inept, dishonest and manipulative practices implemented and supported by Mayor Dave Bronson.

I place the blame squarely on Mayor Bronson, as the buck stops with him. I advise him to clean this mess up, hire someone who is actually qualified this time (yes, that means check) and, last but not least, he created the deplorable situation at Centennial Campground, so he should get to work cleaning that up too. Fellow Anchorage residents, we deserve better and we need to jointly raise our voices in demanding so.
