Letter: An avoidable crisis

At the meeting on emergency shelter on Thursday, Sept. 22, Adam Trombley, Mayor Dave Bronson’s chief of staff, described the emergency recommendations as “hypothetical” and called for a “robust public process.” I fail to see what is hypothetical about an impending deadline that is days away from being enacted, per Bronson’s orders. Demanding a “robust public response” is a call to arms for the upper-middle class NIMBYs who got Bronson elected by something like 1,100 votes. This administration has been a disaster from the beginning. Motivation for a recall effort is low. All we can do as citizens is hope and pray that they do not get us into another crisis that will end up costing the municipality a sizable sum in the future.

On another political note: It has been a long time since a Democrat had the slightest chance of being elected governor. Now, it appears enough individuals are fed up with both Gov. Mike Dunleavy and Bronson, and with the divisiveness promoted by the extreme right, that an excellent for-the-people candidate for governor actually has a chance of winning. If you care about the future of our great state, vote for Les Gara for governor. Vote for Mary Peltola for our sole U.S. House representative.
