Letter: Get out and vote

Italians were disappointed that only 64% of voters turned out for their recent national election — the previous record low turnout was 73%. We would be dancing in the streets if we had “only” a 64% turnout for an Alaska election — we haven’t broken that threshold since 2008. Barely 27% of Alaska’s registered voters voted in our recent special and primary elections in August. Aren’t we supposed to be the greatest democracy in the world? Then let’s vote!

Nov. 8 is your opportunity to elect folks who are committed to working across the bipartisan divide to support education, women’s reproductive choices, and a sustainable economy. Vote for Les Gara for governor, Mary Peltola for U.S. House, Pat Chesbro for U.S. Senate and your local progressive candidates.
