Letter: Begich is the real conservative

Sarah Palin claims she is the only conservative in the race for U.S. House. Obviously she is discounting Nick Begich, the other Republican candidate. Although she takes full credit for “Drill, baby, drill,” the ACES oil tax legislation totally conflicts with her claim to be conservative. Palin argues that the high tax of ACES was to meet the Alaska Constitution’s requirement to provide maximum benefit to Alaskans, but highest tax on resourcs is not the greatest benefit to Alaskans. That tax which maximizes jobs and contracts for Alaskans provides maximum benefit to Alaskans.Palin says she will fight for Alaska, but she never talks about working for Alaska. Nick Begich is a worker.

Begich has shown himself to be a workhorse while Sarah Palin comes off as a showhorse. Nick works at a job, he owns businesses. Nick knows that proper enabling legislation can have a greater impact for good to Alaska than can the infusion of cash from the federal government. Nick Begich has my vote, and he should have yours for No. 1. And for those who vote for Sarah, please vote red — Nick — for your vote No. 2.
