I am writing in support of Rep. Geran Tarr for Senate District J. She has demonstrated that she has understood what the role of a legislator should be in Juneau — passing legislation, and there are few legislators who come close to matching her effectiveness in office. From changing the consent definition to give our prosecutors the power to pursue justice, clearing our state’s rape kit backlog, working with Mat-Su legislators to empower our agricultural economy, and working across the aisle to protect students from hair discrimination, she has been fighting for Alaska for the past decade.
Finally, unlike the other candidates in this race, Geran has the years of experience needed to get bills passed on the state level, and this is crucial for a Legislature that will have so many new faces. She also has received endorsements from many of her colleagues, which demonstrates their faith in her ability to work in a coalition. Vote for Geran Tarr on Nov. 8.
