Letter: Vote for progress

The only thing Alaskans need to know is every day big companies are moving out. Large retail stores are closing. Equipment and storage facilities selling off assets. Forty years ago, everyone had a job who wanted one. The trans-Alaska oil pipeline provided this. Today, the pipeline is half full and the prospect for filling it is dim.

Vote for politicians who will do something about it. The world has not stopped processing oil and many, many things are still made from oil. Alaska and America can no longer compete. Why? We have huge reserves of oil.

The Middle East has all the cards. Look at how they have profited and how they have built their beautiful cities. Why haven’t the people of the Arctic benefited equally?
