Letter: Windfall tax nonsense

I wonder if those folks clamoring for a windfall tax on the oil companies were pushing for a subsidy when oil prices tanked and bankruptcies proliferated? Somehow, I sincerely doubt they were.

If a windfall is morally reprehensible or worse, then anyone who’s scored a hit at a garage sale or accidentally stumbled onto an old master at a pawn shop, or even made a killing on a used car, should be required by law to share the profits with whomever originally owned it.

It’s only fair, right?
