Letter: Do the math

Regarding the disappointing and controversial decision to close a number of schools in the Municipality of Anchorage due to low enrollment, and understanding that the number of students equates to the viability of financial sustainability, one must ask the following questions:

Are the remaining families in the target schools asking other taxpayers in Anchorage to subsidize their student(s) to keep that school open? Are they fundraising or soliciting other neighbors that have school-age children who decided not to attend that school and home school or attend a private school to reconsider, to obtain a projected enrollment that would be substantially able to support the costs of keeping that school open?

These are all things to consider.
