Letter: Cause and effect

Ranked choice voting — don’t you just love it? Well, maybe not if you come in second.

How did we get here? That would be the Joe Miller effect. Alaskans learned that they’d have to accept extreme choices from whomever the Republican Party decided that they wanted to represent all Alaskans, even if it was an election denier more than a decade later.

There was a better way to represent the majority of Alaskans who aren’t affiliated with a party ­— it all started with us learning how to spell Mercowskee … Murkoskie … Lisa, in 2010.
