Letter: Stand against hate

All public officials must speak out with one unified voice to clearly condemn every act of racism, bigotry, antisemitism, misogyny and hatred, wherever they rear their ugly heads.

To be silent is to be complicit. Politics must not supersede the responsibility to embrace the values that have made us a great nation. Honor, trust, acceptance, love and respect, for all our fellow citizens is embedded in our Constitution.

History is filled with unspeakable tragedy. Let us not repeat the mistakes of the past. We are privileged to live in an amazing country, on a beautiful yet perilous planet. We must embrace the challenges of today and tomorrow, together, with common purpose and a collective effort to “teach our children well” in the days and years ahead.
