Letters to the Editor

Letter: Thanks for perspective

Wow, it is great to hear the voice of the homeless! When I lived in Anchorage, I had several homeless friends there, as I do now at my current location. When I would sit together with my friends, the passers-by would go to the opposite side of the path averting their eyes, looking politely (or impolitely) indignant.

How close are any of us to becoming homeless? I always bear in mind: “There but for the grace of God go I.”

I have heard many stories about folks becoming suddenly homeless, usually preceded by a traumatic event that becomes a very difficult situation to dig oneself out of. Riches to rags is very possible in the world, and even when shored up with money and fame, how quickly that can disappear.

Thank you so much to Jarona Edison for her voice and reminder of our mutual positions on this planet. God will bless her generously for her concern and voice!
