Letters to the Editor

Letter: Alternate reality

I just read Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s Sunday budget commentary. He seems to live in a world where schools have small class sizes and plenty of supplies, and an excellent university is just down the road. The roads are adequately maintained, and pedestrians safely walk on cleared sidewalks. The economy is vibrant, well ahead of the rest of the states. And it isn’t based on a single commodity that the rest of the world has set targets to stop using.

Every citizen is safe because there aren’t any gaps in the public safety system. Mental health services are good, and there are certainly no investigations by the Department of Justice. In fact, all essential government services are being provided at excellent levels, and there are billions of dollars left over to give away!

It must be wonderful to live where Gov. Dunleavy lives. I hope I can figure out how to get there, or that he comes back to Earth soon, so he can govern in the real world.
