Letter: Credit union name change

I have been reading with interest the letters regarding the name change at Alaska USA. I am not a member, so I don’t know the inside scoop. But a few years ago, my credit union, Denali Credit Union, merged with a financial institution based Outside and is now known as Nuvision Credit Union.

A lot of things are still basically the same. What is not the same at all is local control. Now when I get ballots in the mail to vote for board members, most of the candidates are from California.

The name change is not to my liking, but the worst part is having the lack of local accountability. So it has been surprising to me that no one has mentioned this with Alaska USA. Surely that doesn’t mean that they are just changing their name and staying locally controlled, does it?
