Letter: Ranked choice is the future

Ranked choice voting allows the majority of people to elect who they think is the best-qualified person running for that seat, regardless of party affiliation. It will take back the democracy from the party bosses and give to everyday citizens. This is a simple, very secure way of voting.

You simply pick the person you think is most qualified as No. 1 and your second choice as No. 2. For example: You have three different color crayons. Your favorite is purple, second is green and your third choice is orange.

Rank as follows: First purple, second green, third orange.

Ranked choice voting is the future and should be implemented in all 50 states. By using this system, I would hope that some of the negativity in campaigns would go away.
