Letter: Interchange boondoggle

The Anchorage Assembly is right to call for further investigation of the proposed O’Malley road to Dimond Boulevard project. Just look at the Dowling Road to Dimond Boulevard fiasco.

I am normally a big fan of roundabouts, but the design of the one at Dowling was an extreme example of inept engineering, Now the new Dowling interchange still isn’t finished, and has been nonfunctional this whole winter.

At the very least, we should wait a couple of years and see if the DOT’s fix to their incompetent original Dowling design works this time. I totally agree with the people who call this new project a boondoggle and claim that large sums of money and long-term traffic disruption will only produce an outcome that is inferior to what we already have.

That part of the highway is just fine as it is now. Huber claims that there are only 50 “vocal” people opposed to the project. Please make that 51.
