Letters to the Editor

Letter: Beyond defense

I find it hard to believe, in this day of vast political information, that I could see such a naive, irresponsible comment in the March 22 letters section of the ADN. The letter writer’s view of Russia’s continued blatant aggression in defiance of universal world condemnation reeked of a lack of knowledge of world history.

Territorial boundaries that are long established and agreed upon are not open for the taking to any such aggressor, such as the Russian army commanded by the dictator Vladimir Putin. Obviously, European history from 1900-1960 shows how aggression has caused sorrow and turmoil in this area.

National security among those specific countries that are threatened by Russian hegemony is sacrosanct for continued survival.

International support is widespread and unanimous - real-time videos of Russian aggression and civilian atrocities and deaths are rampant.

As a third-generation American whose grandparents fled Europe in the early 1900s to live in a welcoming, safe country, I am appalled by the abject obsequious demeanor of this letter. Who but a modern-day Quisling could support overt actions displayed by Russia towards Ukraine and ultimately other sovereign nations?
