Letter: Against a sales tax

I’m typing this out to voice my opposition to the proposed sales tax that the state is looking to implement. We already live in one of the most expensive states to live in the United States; adding a tax to the already expensive cost of living in Alaska will be severely detrimental to the majority of Alaskans.

It doesn’t help that the current federal government is printing money, making our already cheapened money worth even less. Not to mention that the state of Alaska already wastes money, as I have personally witnessed with a friend of mine who worked for the state. He asked what else he could do and was told just to “hang out.”

How many more pointless positions exist within the state? Our government needs to cut down on pointless spending before looking at implementing new revenue ideas.
