Enacting a state sales tax will put Alaska in line with Mississippi, one of the poorest (if not the poorest) states. While I was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, shopping off-base brought on state, county and city sales taxes. Sales tax belongs to the boroughs and cities.
Only real estate and medical expenses were exempt. When I first moved to Alaska, there were state income and school taxes. These are the taxes that need to be brought back.
