Letter: Throw the bums out

The whole lot of elected federal officials and Supreme Court justices need to be thrown out of office. Corruption and greed run rampant among them; lying and cheating have become norms. Our elected officials do nothing other than blame the other political party and wring their hands.

Meanwhile, our national air control system teeters on failure, a climate emergency threatens our economy, corporations use inflation to price gouge, and a looming disaster is on the horizon as about half of Americans have insufficient savings and no pensions for their retirement.

Yet our elected officials do nothing — no, actually, they make matters worse by creating trouble.

We do not have a spending problem; we have a revenue problem. During the last administration, a significant amount of tax was reduced on the rich and corporations, creating trillions in deficits over time. Now our members of Congress are seeking to have working people pick up the tab by demanding cuts.

This self-created financial problem is just another attack on the working people of America to provide more largesse to the rich. They talk about deficits while at the same time introducing legislation to provide more tax benefits to the wealthy. It is time to recognize that our Congress and Supreme Court only represent those who can pay to play; it is well past time for a change.
