Letter: Targeted sales tax

I’d like to propose that the Municipality of Anchorage enact a 2% sales tax on restaurants and overnight lodging in Anchorage. Money raised could go to pay for the avalanche of whistleblower and harassment lawsuits that have been and will be filed against the administration of Mayor Dave Bronson.

And by making restaurant and hotel owners responsible to collect and pay the sales tax, the city will be able to hold these folks rightly accountable, as they were some of the biggest campaign boosters and supporters of the mayor’s election.

My recollection is that their collective right-wing outrage regarding homeless initiatives and COVID-19 lockdowns led to the train wreck that is Dave Bronson. So now it’s time to pay up. By my calculations, 2% should about do it.
