Letter: Trump’s damage to America

I feel like the whole country, or at least half of it, has gone down some ‘Alice in Wonderland’ rabbit hole with Donald Trump. This is a man who now has 40-plus federal felony charges against him, with more to likely come. All with potential jail time. For everything from tax evasion and fraud paying off a porn star to mishandling of classified documents held in his private Mar-A-Lago estate to obstruction of justice to charges related to trying to overturn his 2020 election loss. The list goes on.

And yet his disciples stick to him like flies to flypaper. What is wrong with this country? If any one of us were hit with even one federal felony indictment, we’d be shaking in our shoes and worried about our future. Instead, he has spent on the order of $40 million (hard to know for sure) of campaign contributions for legal defense and keeps on sucking in the limelight. The attorneys are probably laughing on their way to the bank.

But what about the donors? Trump recently said, “We need one more indictment to close out this election. One more indictment and this election is closed out.’ Unbelievable! He feels he is so far above the law that he can do anything he wants.

This one man has done so much to wreck this country and any sort of respectful debate between parties. He really needs to be found guilty on at least one of the charges (hopefully all) and put away where he can’t do any more harm to this country.
