Letters to the Editor

Letter: We need capable public servants

The more I listen and watch the news on the Maui fire, the more I conclude that unqualified, untrained people are in top positions that do not know how to react to an emergency. The explanations, excuses, and decisions and failure to act in an emergency by the emergency management, electric company, and the water supervisor are unacceptable andconcerning.

Did these people get the job for a paycheck? Lives are on the line with the people we put in charge of our communities.

Do you trust the leaders in your community? This is a wake-up call. I believe some of this could have been prevented and lives could have been saved! How do I know the people in charge in my community are qualified, trained and capable of handling an emergency?
