Letter: Religious discrimination

The Anchorage School District School Board needs to alert parents when Christian-based organizations like the Alaska Family Council are asking to legally discriminate against certain groups of American school children. Let’s call this what it is: faith-based discrimination.

The Friday, Sept. 22 article on the front page of the ADN reported on a furor over nothing more than legal discrimination based on archaic religious fears and dogma hidden behind the guise of conservative “parental rights.”

Fanatical religious groups have already convinced the Mat-Su School Board to allow illegal discrimination against American school children who don’t meet their religious qualifications for human existence. What group will the religious “right” be allowed to discriminate against next? Agnostics, atheists, homeless, Natives — who? Let’s keep America free, please.
