Letters to the Editor

Letter: Gaza

Gaza is approximately the same size as Turnagain Arm. Can you imagine what three weeks of relentless bombing would do to that tiny sliver of land? Add in 2.3 million people, approximately 40,000 of whom are Hamas members, and imagine who dies when the bombs drop.

Yes, as the Israeli spokesperson said, “That’s what happens in war,” in response to their vicious bombing of a refugee camp. I vehemently protest my tax dollars being used to support Israel’s inhumane and illegal actions.

As columnist Perry Bacon Jr. wrote, “The U.S. government should be acting as if Palestinian and Israeli lives matter, not as if the latter are actually important and the former should just get lip service.”

Time is running out.
