Letters to the Editor

Letter: The most important task

Government exists to provide security. I don’t see any hordes of Huns or Persians or Mongols at the gates.

All of our citizens rely on the roads. We use our roads for our jobs, our schools and all the things we use, from fuel to food.

This should be the No. 1 activity of concern for our government. Spoiler alert: It snows every year between October and April.

Our public works directors — city, borough and state — should sit down and come up with an efficient plan to clear the main routes, feeder routes and bus routes by 6:30 a.m. After 8 a.m., they can return to the side roads.

Our politicians need to be held accountable for our roads. They need to sign off on union contracts that benefit the voters, citizens and taxpayers. They need to develop inter-governmental agreements regarding the roads.

There is no reason for a plow truck to have the plow in the air.

Our fire and police can’t do their jobs if they can’t access an area. Taxpayers can’t earn the money necessary to pay the taxes.
