Letters to the Editor

Letter: Yellowstone

It has been proposed that tapping the huge geothermal reservoir under Yellowstone National Park could provide enough carbon-free energy for 400,000 homes.

There was an immediate chorus of voices saying “not so fast.” Not to worry. Scientists say the Yellowstone supervolcano should erupt sometime in the next 600,000 years. Between litigation and regulation, that should be just about the time they get a permit to drill their first exploratory well.
