Letter: Appreciation of Mayor Bronson

Over the past few weeks, I have been encouraged by supportive comments about our mayor, Dave Bronson, concerning his role with the Assembly and also for explaining our mayor’s decision to provide municipal snowplows for the clearing of major state thoroughfares within the city.

It was eye-opening for me to see the map showing how many of Anchorage’s main roads are the responsibility of the state to maintain, not the municipality. Thanks to Bronson for his wise and prudent response to assist the state in opening these vital thoroughfares.

Thank you also to the ADN for its very good coverage recently of the facts behind the ownership of our roads and the dilemma for both entities in maintaining them.

I am especially grateful for Leif Simcox’s exhortation to encourage our mayor.
