Letters to the Editor

Letter: Where is the justice?

My son was pulled over and taken to the police station for a suspected DUI. He blew 00.00, but the officer proceeded to get a search warrant and had his blood drawn. The results were also 00.00 and, after almost three months, his case was dropped. His vehicle was impounded on the night of the accusation and it cost me (I am the registered owner) $988 to get it out. I am appalled that our government can accuse us, take our vehicle, find out we didn’t do anything wrong and then make us pay almost $1,000 for the privilege. I am told we cannot get any of this money back.

There is something inherently wrong with this. My son is 23 and likes to dance. He was pulled over after leaving a lounge where he had been dancing for several hours.

Because he was out on the road late at night and was seen leaving a bar, he was targeted, and now we suffer the loss of $988. Where is the justice in this?
