Letter: Consequences of poor road conditions

An ADN article earlier this winter focused on vehicle damage sustained with poor road conditions in Anchorage. I have another question. How many ambulance crews have been delayed by the now standard one-and-a-half lanes available on East 36th Avenue? How about private individuals driving to the emergency room with a loved one in pain or in a medical emergency?

I’m not talking about limited lanes for a few days. I’m talking one-and-a-half lanes for weeks. And it’s been this way both this winter and last. I’ve been commuting in the area for more than 30 years and am quite familiar with the usual yearround, two-lane availability. It seems like East 36th Avenue would be a safety priority.

That being said, I do appreciate the plow drivers’ hard work.
