Letter: Trump's reckless comments

After the comments made recently by Donald Trump, I can only hope that every reasonable patriotic American will finally accept that he is both malignant and completely unfit to serve as our president. First, he dramatically proclaimed that he would not provide American support to any NATO member that has not paid the U.S. its share of NATO defense costs, although NATO members do not “pay” the U.S. at all — rather, they each contribute a percentage of their GDP to NATO to support their mutual defense.

Trump’s statement indicates either his complete lack of knowledge or disinterest in the facts or his willingness to ignore facts or simply to make things up. Maybe all of the above. Next, he stated that not only would he abandon a NATO ally attacked by Russia, but he would support and promote Vladimir Putin’s attack on our ally! Subsequently, he mocked Nikki Haley concerning the whereabouts of her husband, who is an officer in the South Carolina National Guard currently deployed in Africa on official assignment.

The audacity of this coming from Trump — who had his family doctor write a letter containing phony information about his “bone spurs” to avoid military service — is stunning. Trump is a despicable coward and bully who is unfit to serve as our President.
