Letter: Education differences

I was recently reminded of Joe Cocker’s song “Learning to Live Together,” released around 1970, and how we may have moved forward in that regard. Not so much.

Our governor and Legislature have recreated “roadblocks” to allowing all Alaskans and their children an education to move forward by eliminating false truths and instilling rational thought and self-esteem by funding a quality education from pre-school through, either a trade school or college.

We cannot survive as a healthy, vibrant community without having that which provides for everyone to seek opportunities in education and advancement or cultural elder teachings. White privilege relies on charter schools and elitism that has no place in our Alaska lifestyle. Those who choose to continue to promote their segmented beliefs and privileges should do so at their own expense.
