Letter: Education funding failure

This is how legislators violated the constitution and allowed K-12 students to reach the bottom: 15 years of data show that reading and math abilities dropped a full grade level statewide as the Base Student Allocation fell 22% in real dollars. Although the state’s student population of 128,000 stayed flat, some 1,800 teachers disappeared, the remainder each gained more than three students on average, and class sizes ballooned to among the biggest in the U.S.
