Letters to the Editor

Letter: Yes to Tuck, no to CMO confirmation

I support Chris Tuck for mayor, and I hope you will too. Tuck has represented Alaskans for years down in Juneau and, not only do I trust his leadership, but I know he listens. He is also an electrician who knows how hard-working Alaskans can benefit from a well-run town. He will be good for our economy and our community.

On another issue, I was shocked to see the Assembly wants the power to approve the chief medical officer. This is not, and should not be, a political position. The CMO is a position that should be filled by a physician who can provide medical knowledge to the mayor, so they

can work together to influence health in Anchorage based on a sound medical foundation and for better outcomes.

I sure hope my fellow neighbors will join me in voting for Chris Tuck and against the ballot measure that would amend our municipal charter.
