Letters to the Editor

Letter: Thanks for tax help

April is National Volunteer Month.

This is a shout-out to the 123 volunteer AARP Foundation Tax-Aides in Alaska.

In 2024, it was our pleasure to serve more than 4,600 Alaskan households, especially those age 50-plus or low to moderate income. AARP Tax-Aide resulted in nearly $4.9 million in tax refunds, all without cost to the taxpayers.

We must not forget the generosity of the 25 host sites in Anchorage, Mat-Su, Fairbanks, Homer, Kodiak, Kenai, Soldotna, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Wrangell which donated space for us to offer this service in their communities.

We’ll be back in February 2025 ready to serve Alaskans again. Thank you for trusting us.

— Allegra Hamer
