Letters to the Editor

Letter: Financial mismanagement

Many letters to the editor have focused on Mayor Dave Bronson’s mismanagement of city departments and costly legal suits for unqualified personnel appointments. Another aspect all of us should be concerned about is the lack of accountability for city funds.

During Bronson’s mayoral term, Anchorage received more than $156 million in federal funds to handle the COVID-19 pandemic. Accountability of those funds is needed to complete audits. Bronson has appointed three financial managers during his mayoral term and two of these appointments and financial staff have left.

Without the completion of the 2022 and 2023 audits, Anchorage stands to lose tens of millions of dollars in future federal grant funding.

Anchorage can do better; let’s elect Suzanne LaFrance.
