Move over, spinach salad: Hearty lunch special offered at Glacier BrewHouse

The blue plate special stems back to the Depression era, but there's nothing dismal about a lunch deal at Glacier BrewHouse.

During late fall to early spring, the Glacier BrewHouse offers a weekly BrewHouse Blue Plate Special during its lunch hours.

Traditionally, a blue plate special consists of meat, potatoes and a vegetable for a special low price, said Michael Hurst, Director of Marketing for Glacier BrewHouse.

While staying true to hearty favorites like beef stroganoff and chicken fried steak, the BrewHouse specials are based on the culinary creations of sous chef Mike Jones.

This week, customers with an appetite can feast on a Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes (BrewHouse whips up delicious garlic mashed potatoes) and a mushroom port demi glace. The steak is topped with fried onions and paired with a side of fresh vegetables.

For $11.95, the special is available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

To pay tribute to the American tradition, the BrewHouse special is even served on a blue plate.
