Musher Aliy Zirkle won this year’s shortened Yukon Quest’s 200 mile race Sunday evening.
The longer, 1,000-mile Yukon Quest race, which goes from Whitehorse to Fairbanks, is still underway.
The Yukon Quest announced Zirkle as the winner of the 200 mile race from Whitehorse to Braeburn and back in a Facebook posting at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Race organizers were forced to eliminate 100 miles of the usually 300 mile race due to poor snow conditions in the Yukon Territory.
