Sprint musher Kourosh Partow sets pace at Earl Norris Open

Kourosh Partow and a team of 10 sled dogs made quick work of things on a cold, clear Sunday to take a decisive open-class victory in the Earl Norris Open sprint race at Tozier Track.

Partow outdueled Ricky Taylor by 98 seconds on the 17.7-mile trail, stretching a narrow first-day lead into a comfortable margin on the final day.

Partow, who ran 12 dogs Saturday to grab an 18-second lead, finished with a two-day total time of 1 hour, 52 minutes, 3 seconds. Second-place Ricky Taylor posted a time of 1:54 for a 57-second edge over third-place Jason Dunlap.

Final standings -- 1) Kourosh Partow 112 minutes, 3 seconds; 2) Ricky Taylor 114:00; 3) Jason Dunlap 114:57; 4) Frank Haberman 117:08; 5) Gary Markley 118:18; 6) Marvin Kokrane 122:24; 7) Bob Chlupach 131:18.
