Anchorage's Perry Green, a former runner-up in the World Series of Poker's Main Event, over the weekend finished 152nd and bagged $52,718 in that prestigious and lucrative tournament.
Green enjoyed a long run in a No-Limit Hold 'em event that drew 6,598 players and requires a $10,000 buy-in, or entry fee. The Main Event, which is ongoing, features a prize pool of $62 million, with the winner earning $8,527,982.
Green has won three bracelets in his WSOP history -- bracelets go to event winners and are coveted among poker players.
Green earlier in this year's WSOP won $2,786 in a Seniors No-Limit event to give him earnings of $55,504 this year. In his career at the WSOP, Green has cashed in 24 different tournaments for a total of $645,427.
Green on Saturday was given the honor of directing dealers at the Main Event "to shuffle up and deal.''
Twelve different Alaskans cashed at the WSOP this year, with Greg Hobson of Anchorage topping the money charts with an Ante Only No-Limit victory that earned him a bracelet and $256,691.
