Chugiak fends off Bartlett in tennis

Bartlett swept the boys singles matches but Chugiak won everything else Monday in a Cook Inlet Conference tennis meet at The Alaska Club.

Two matches were decided by third-set tiebreakers. Thane Hatcher of Bartlett stopped Chugiak's Riley Fugere 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 in boys singles, and the Chugiak doubles team of Tyler Winborg and Nate Soltenberg nipped Ryan Pogue and Carson Chadwick of Bartlett 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.

Chugiak won the meet, 7-2.

Boys No. 1 singles — Wyatt Chadwick (B) d. Ian Judd (C) 6-1, 6-1.

Boys No. 2 singles — Thane Hatcher (B) d. Riley Fugere (C) 6-1, 4-6, 10-7.

Girls No. 1 singles — Emilee Groth (C) d. Elise Wood (B) 6-3, 6-0.

Girls No. 1 singles — Tyanna Melak (C) d. Abby Walosin (B) 6-2, 6-2.

Boys No. 1 doubles — Jared Elison and Ryan Winborg (C) d. Yeling Thao and Tim Yang (B) 6-3, 6-2.

Boys No. 2 doubles — Tyler Winborg and Nate Soltenberg (C) d. Ryan Pogue and Carson Chadwick (B) 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.

Girls No. 1 doubles — Becky LaRue and Bethany Kesler (C) d. Chang Her and Chua Her (B) 6-2, 6-0.

Girls No. 2 doubles — Megan Anshutz and Madelyn Bistodeau (C) d. Emily Bodek and Anissa Stephens (B) 6-0, 6-0.

Mixed doubles — Sam Hall and Claire Maloney (C) d. Yinelkis Rosario and Bradley Macken of Bartlett 6-3, 6-2.
