Chugiak tennis team turns things around to beat Dimond

Chugiak 6, Dimond 3

Two days after losing five tiebreakers, the Chugiak Mustangs played clutch tennis Thursday by winning five third-set tiebreakers in 6-3 Cook Inlet Conference victory over Dimond.

Among the Mustangs winning tiebreakers was Riley Fugere, who outdueled Jake Stone 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 in the only singles match that went to a third set.

The wind blew stray balls all over the courts but the rain held off at Service High, allowing the Cougars to cruise past Eagle River 8-1.

In a battle between two of the CIC's top boys singles players, Robbie Sedwick of West won the third-set tiebreaker 10-6 to fend off East's David Columbus in a meet.

On Wednesday, the Eagles defeated South 7-2.
