Dimond Lynx win their own basketball tournament

Evan Hoosier delivered an 11-point, 16-rebound double-double Saturday to lead the Dimond Lynx to the championship game of the eight-team Alaska Prep Shootout boys basketball tournament.

Jaren Carle chipped in 21 points for Dimond in the 66-30 win over Valdez.

Third place went to Palmer, which coasted past Barrow 65-40. Ronny Marshall racked up a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Moose.

Grace Christian, playing its third close game in a row, outlasted Eagle River 55-53 in overtime to grab fourth place. The Grizzlies got double-figure scoring from Josh McGovern (13 points), Nathan Harriman (12) and Nathan Ivanoff (10). Eagle River lost its second overtime game of the tournament despite a game-high 19 points from Javon Walker.

In the seventh-place game, West Valley swamped Kenai Central 77-37 behind Terrell Peter’s 18 points. Adam Trujillo topped the Kards with 19 points.
