West Eagles take two top seeds into CIC tennis tournament

The West Eagles, who swept through the regular season without losing a dual meet, will take two top seeds and two No. 2 seeds into this week’s Cook Inlet Conference tennis championships at the Alaska Club East.

Alex Sergiacoma is the No. 1 seed in boys singles and the team of Jack Coulter and Ethan Pickett is the No. 1 seed in boys doubles.

Chugiak, Dimond and Service each produced one top seed — Chugiak’s Emilee Groth is the top seed in girls singles, Dimond’s Kate Debenham and Layna Debenham are seeded No. 1 in girls doubles and Service’s Toby Lochner and Harmony Pretlow are the top seeds in mixed doubles.

The No. 2 seeds went to South’s Gabriel Portal in boys singles, West’s Sophia Green in girls singles, the West team of Kristina Yu and Athena Clendaniel in girls doubles, the Service team of Max Garnett and Ben Broyles in boys doubles and the Chugiak team of Francis Wanek and Bethany Kesler in mixed doubles.

Action begins at 8 a.m. Friday, with finals scheduled for early afternoon on Saturday. Anyone who makes it to the semifinal round qualifies for the Oct. 11-12 state tournament in Anchorage.
