Aggies ride rebounds to Shootout win over Drake

UC Davis landed three players in double figures and won the rebounding battle Friday to dispatch Drake 64-58 in a consolation-round game at the GCI Great Alaska Shootout.

The win puts the Aggies (5-2) into Saturday's fourth-place game against Oakland at 2 p.m. Drake (1-4) faces UAA in the seventh place game at noon at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Aggies limited Drake to eight rebounds in the second half — only one of them on the offensive end — and finished with a 33-18 rebounding advantage.

Chima Moneka provided a game-high eight rebounds and eight others added at least two boards apiece for UC Davis, which plays in the Big West Conference.

Brenton Lemar scored 17 points, Darius Graham had 13 and Moneka 12, and Lemar and Graham each handed out five assists for the Aggies.

Casey Schlatter was Drake's only double-figure scorer with 15. No one had more than three rebounds for the Bulldogs of the Missouri Valley Conference.
