Unalakleet woman killed attempting to escape vehicle impound

Early Tuesday morning, 46-year-old Zoe Ivanoff of Unalakleet was ejected from her vehicle and killed while attempting to flee from an Alaska State Trooper who was impounding her car for driving with a revoked license.

The Anchorage Daily News reports Ivanoff had been pulled over near Mile 47 of the Seward Highway when the trooper discovered she was driving illegally. A tow truck was called to haul off the vehicle; before it arrived, Ivanoff got in and drove away, according to the story.

The trooper followed Ivanoff several miles but lost her. Later, her Pathfinder was spotted off the road. Ivanoff had been thrown from the vehicle was declared dead at the scene, according to the story.
